Columbia University Bellydance and PURE (Pure Urban Ritual Experiment) join together to present this theatrical dance drama starring 30 dancers, live vocals and percussion, compelling story line, stunning visual projections and a moving set.
Delve deep into human consciousness to explore themes of empowerment, self-love, confidence, and the struggle to come to terms with media-driven beauty standards.
Rooted in Middle Eastern dance tradition, while taking inspiration from Modern, African, Flamenco and other dance forms, "PURE Reflections: Beauty Reimagined" is visually stunning, poignantly touching, and deeply thought provoking.
Artistic direction and vision by Kaeshi Chai. Featuring live vocals by acclaimed singer/songwriter Kristin Hoffmann. Percussion by Brad Mack and others. Visuals by Nasha Masha. Directed by Dixie Rosa Fernandez.
Inspired by Heather Shoopman/Se7eN the book Body Love by Rita Freedman, and PURE NYC's own personal stories.
